Accenture started as the consulting arm of the accounting firm,  Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting.

In 2001 Andersen Consulting adopted the name Accenture which means "Accent on the future". Accenture has since gone from strength to strength, today employing over half a million people world-wide and in 2020 generated more than USD $ 44 Billion in revenue.
