Must Knows of Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing provides on demand computer services including applications, storage and processing power via the internet platform. It uses a pay as you go system and does not require you to invest in softwares or hardwares.

Companies can rent access to anything from applications to storage from a cloud service provider. This reduces their upfront costs as well as costs related to owning and maintaining an IT infrastructure. Cloud providers like Oracle help in managing the customer's IT infrastructure, integrating applications, and developing new capabilities and functionality to keep pace with market demands.

Cloud computing provides the speed, scalability, and flexibility that enables businesses to develop, innovate, and support business IT solutions.

Types of Cloud Computing Services

Along with public, private, multicloud and hybrid cloud computing, the below three are the main types of cloud computing :

Infrastructure-as-a-Service

Infrastructure-as-a-Service includes physical or virtual servers, storage and networking that can be rented. This enables companies to build applications from scratch and want to control most elements themselves, but it does require firms to have the technical skills to be able to operate services at that level. The responsibility of installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining any software on the cloud native solutions such as database, middleware, and application software lies on the cloud subscriber.

Platform-as-a-Service

Platform-as-a-Service is the next upgrade to Infrastructure-as-a-Service as it includes underlying storage, networking, and virtual servers. It also comprises of softwares that developers need to modify applications including middleware, database management, operating systems, and development tools. This gives the companies the opportunity to develop softwares to suit their operations without investing in or maintaining the underlying infrastructure.

Software-as-a-Service

Software-as-a-Service is the delivery of applications as a service while the customer accesses those applications over the internet. End users are unaware of the underlying software and this is the most commonly used form of cloud computing services

Benefits of ORACLE Cloud Computing Services

Cloud makes it cost efficient for companies when considering long term costs. It enables companies to access all forms of tools and systems to be innovative and mould technologies to suit their unique operations. Large security technology prevents the threat of leak of vital information and breach of security. Integrated cloud can also make processes with companies efficient and productive.

Oracle helps easily transfer an existing server of a firm to the cloud while reducing IT costs of modernisation. It helps preserve existing tools and reduces the efforts to re-write codes to migrate software assets. The biggest savings comes from eliminating capital expenses by lifting and shifting entire workloads to the cloud and retiring data center assets.
